The American Idol team is keeping the theme for the Top Nine unusually secret. It’s not clear whether this is intentional or not.
According to unconfirmed reports, the theme will be iTunes Downloads. Looking at the list of top downloads for iTunes, I don’t expect to make any suggestions of what the contestants should perform. I’m not sure I’m culturally knowledgeable enough to do so.
This is also no indication yet of who the mentor for the week will be, but David Cook is performing on the results show. This is his first return to the American Idol stage since winning last season. He’s taking a shot break from his first headliner tour, which began in February, and has been playing to sold-out venues.
He will sing his new single, “Come Back to Me.” A sneak preview of the new video for this song will be shown during a commercial break.
After the 30-second preview, fans can watch the full-length video for twenty-four hours exclusively on AT&T platforms. AT&T wireless customers can get a link to watch on their mobile phones via AT&T Cellular Video (CV) by texting “COOK” to “8008”, while AT&T U-Verse customers can access it through their Video On Demand (VOD) menu. All fans can watch the video online on music.att.net.
Also performing that night is Grammy winner Lady GaGa, singing “Poker Face”, her second hit from her album “The Flame”.
