Colt McCoy Named Heisman Finalist

CFB:Texas A & M University, University of Texas NOV 27

In an announcement that surprised no one, Texas Longhorn Colt McCoy, Oklahoma Sooner Sam Bradford, and Florida Gator Tim Tebow were named Heisman Finalists today. They’re packing their bags for this weekend’s ceremony in New York City.

Much more surprising is the fact that no one else was invited. No Graham Harrell. No Michael Crabtree. No love at all for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

I fully admit and embrace my bias, but I really believe McCoy should win. He did what he did this season with a clearly less talented and mature team than Bradford or Tebow. His talent and leadership carried Texas within a dropped interception of the National Championship Game in Miami.

Take McCoy out of the Texas lineup this season, and we lose at least three more games. I don’t believe that a similar case can be made with the other two.

Unfortunately, I fear that McCoy and Bradford will split the vote from writers in the Big 12 region, and Tebow will walk away with it.
