Here's PhotogBlog regular Rachel also from Georgetown.

September 27, 2004

Yesterday I shot the 1st Annual American Red Cross of Central Texas Fashion Show.

The Luminous Landscape takes a look at Adobe's Digital Negative format. It aspires to be an open format for raw images from digital cameras, which are inherantly closed, proprietary formats.

Lexar announced a number of new digital memory products today.

September 22, 2004

Austin model Carolee has been on PhotogBlog before. Here she is from the studio shortly after an event for L'Oreal.

Canon enters the Wi-Fi age. I don't have a camera with Wi-Fi yet, but it seems like it would be useful, particularly in a studio setting.

This has been a tough year on the great ones. Vietnam War photojournalist Eddie Adams passed last Saturday. Mr. Adams is most famous for his grusome photo of a Vietnamese prisoner being executed on the streets of Saigon.

September 20, 2004

Bjørn Rørslett has a review of the Nikkor AFS 200mm f2 VR lens.

September 19, 2004

Here's Taylor, shot in the studio last July. This may have been her very first shoot, but at the very least, she hadn't done many. She did a great job, especially for a rookie.

Steve's Digicams has a review of the Fujifilm FinePix E550.

Photo.net looks at video monitor options for photographers.

The Luminous Landscape describes how to add a diffuse glow to your images in Photoshop.

According to Rob Galbraith, indications are that the CMOS sensor in the Nikon D2X will be made by Sony.

September 18, 2004

This is Yulie, from a shoot here in the studio a few months ago.

A pair of Madonna's bodyguards were detained by Tel Aviv police after a brawl with photographers. While popperazi are certainly capable of pushing things too far, it does sound like the bodyguards were in the wrong here.

September 17, 2004

Photo.net's Photograph of the Week is one that shouldn't be missed!

Rob Galbraith explores the question or whether Lexar actually shipped their 80x CompactFlash cards months ago.

IBM and Kodak have reached a deal where IBM will manufacturer digital sensors for Kodak.

PC World has a look at yesterday's Nikon announcements.

September 16, 2004

Let me introduce you to Regan Licciardello. Regan is already major player on the child pageant circuit. We shot in the studio a few months ago to give her new promotional pictures. Hair, makeup and styling were provided by Regan's talents mom, Bonnie.

Lots of goodies announced from Nikon today...

Nikon guru Thom Hogan has a report from Photokina covering the Nikon related announcements. Thom also has a look at the 17-55mm AF-S DX.

Rob Galbraith has a quick look at the 300mm f/2.8 with Vibration Reduction. I love the VR in my 70-200mm, so I suspect that this will be an excellent lens. I'm sure it won't be cheap, however. Please be aware that it is a "G" lens, which means there is no aperture ring on the lens. Aperture must be controlled electronically from the camera body.

More exciting is the announcement of two new SLR's, Nikon D2X and the Nikon F6, with the first being digital and the second film.

The D2X looks like a monster, with 12.4MP resolution, up to five frames per second, and a memory buffer of up to fifteen NEFs. By comparison, my D100 has a buffer for only four much smaller (6.3MP) NEFs. Built in wireless will make this useful for studio work.

My first impression of the F6 suggests that it has much (if not all) of the fuctionality of the F5, in a bit of a smaller package (the F5 is a big beast). Supposedly, it's going to have a ruggedness similar to the F5 (which is built like a tank).

Haven't seen anything on list or street prices yet.

More reveiws from the prolific Steve's Digicams, including ones for the Fujifilm FinePix E510, the Nikon Coolpix 4800, the Nikon Coolpix 8400, and the Nikon Coolpix 8800.

I received my Lexar 1GB CompactFlash cards on Monday. Of course, yesterday, SanDisk dropped the price on their 2GB cards to about what I paid for each 1GB card.

September 13, 2004

Bob Atkins of Photo.net takes a brief look at the recently announced Canon Powershot A400, A85 and A95.

Steve's Digicams has a review of the Canon Powershot S70.

Well, my new memory cards didn't arrive on Friday; hopefully, they'll be here today.

September 10, 2004

A pair of new reviews from Steve's Digicams, for the Sony CyberShot DSC-M1, and the Minolta DiMAGE Z3.

Rob Galbraith discusses the new 80x CompactFlash cards from Lexar. These new cards have really pushed down the pricing on Lexar's older cards. In fact, UPS is supposed to deliver a pair of 40x 1GB cards to me today.

Photo.net reviews the Canon Speedlite 580EX.

September 6, 2004
