The Beeb argues that
digital cameras
equal better photographers. While there is some truth to this, I believe the
issue is overstated. Certainly, digital allow one to shoot more, receive instant
feedback, and hopefully, climb up the photographic knowledge curve faster, they also
seem to excuse people from doing their homework. When I learned photography using
film, it cost me money every time I tripped the shutter. As a result, I invested time
in learning composition and exposure, whether from books or from other photographers.
It seems that many people get a digital camera, shoot and shoot and shoot, and never
show any improvement.
