The Wife and I returned to Cap City Comedy Club last night, this time to see Iliza Shlesinger. Iliza is the most recent winner, first female winner, and youngest winner of Last Comic Standing. She’s also appeared on the roundtable on Chelsea Lately. It seems that the Wife and I discover most comics there lately.
Her style is a mix of observational humor and physical comedy, and I can see why she won Last Comic Standing. She is absolutely hysterical. The Wife’s throat hurt from laughing so hard. Even though her humor is definitely female-oriented, there was plenty that is funny for the men as well.
The opening act was Josh Gondelman. We weren’t familiar with him, but he was one of the best opening acts we’ve seen. His style is observational humor, drawing heavily from his experience as a pre-school teacher (“I know you’re not supposed to play favorites, but some of those jerks make it really easy.”)
Iliza has shows again tonight at 8:00pm and 10:30pm. Tickets are still available from Cap City Comedy Club.

Note: Pictures were take with my Coolpix P80. The Wife took the one of Iliza and I.
These are certainly a step up from the camera in my iPhone 4 that I used at the John Caparulo show, but I still had trouble with the lighting. I doubt they would like me walking in with my Nikon D200 and a flash bracket, so I’ll have to make due.
