Navy Midshipmen versus Missouri Tigers
December 31, 2009, 2:30pm Central
Even after losing Chase Daniel and a number of other key players, many thought 2009 would be a great year for Missouri. They seemed to be living up to expectations, going 4-0 against the patsies at the beginning of their schedule. Then they saw three straight loses to ranked teams. They pulled it back together and won four of their last five, for a 8-4 season.
Sophomore quarterback Blaine Gabbert led the Tigers to a 13th rated passing attack. Danario Alexander is their leading receiver. At 6’4″, Navy has no one that can cover him properly.
Missouri’s defense is 12th against the run, but they don’t face many rushing attacks in the Big 12. They’re 109th against the pass.
Navy likes to run the ball on offense. Their rushing offense if 4th, but their passing offense is ranked dead last. Missouri will load up against the run. If Navy can find just enough of a passing game to back the DBs and LBs off a bit, Navy will be able to get their rushing yards.
I like Navy (almost went there) and would like to see them win their bowl game for a ten win season. I don’t see that happening, unfortunately. They get their yards and some points, but Missouri wins 31-14.
