Longhorn Football Open Practice, August 12, 2009

Wednesday evening, the Texas Longhorns football team held an open practice at Frank Denius Fields (southeast corner of 26th Street and Red River) from 7pm to 9pm. Although it was raining prior to the practice and for the first thirty minutes of the practice), it looked like as many as two thousand people showed up.

I stayed for the first hour and came home with the following pictures.

The practice is open again this evening at the same time and place.

Technical Notes: All pictures except for the wide angle crowd shots were taken with my Nikon D200, monopod-mounted with the Nikon 300mm f/2.8 lens at ISO 800. The wide angle shots were taken with my Nikon Coolpix P80.

DJ Grant went down with an injury after I left last night. Reports now are that he is done for the season. This is bad news for our already thin tight end position.

Best wishes to DJ for a speedy and complete recovery!
